REBOOT: It’s not just for the computer, humans need to reset too. Good thing June is Rebuild Yourself Month. It has been a tough couple of years. Many have lost loved ones, experienced divorce or separation, left the workplace for various reasons, or have other changes that affect one’s self-worth.
PurposeFairy.com lists 10 Daily Practices for Rebuilding Self-Worth. An excerpt of the first six are below.
First, remove the crutches; to understand yourself and get to wholeness, you must release the crutches that prevent you from achieving self-discovery and self-knowledge — think the half pint of ice cream or binge watching a series on your favorite streaming platform when unhappy.
Stop clinging; release the clinging by becoming aware of it, awaken to the fact that it has nothing to do with your ex; it has to do with your fear of being alone and by yourself — feel free to change ex to whatever you have been clinging to.
Allow these feelings to wash over, don’t stop yourself from feeling. Get rid of the habits and people that prevent you from going to the dark place and experiencing unwanted feelings.
Identify these feelings. Acknowledge they are there to comfort, help and guide.
Check in with your spiritual nature. Spirituality could be smiling or acknowledging the human-ness of a stranger.
Feel goodness, love and completeness from within. Whatever it is you’re seeking, know that it’s within you; speak to yourself differently, tame your feelings and become kinder to yourself.
Create a daily habit of accessing this inner space. It took years of mental and emotional sabotage for you to downgrade yourself and lack self worth. It’ll take days and months to build yourself up.
