Bradford woman jailed for alleged assault on child
A Bradford woman is in McKean County Jail for allegedly assaulting a child at a Foster Township residence.
Terri Hanold, 45, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault and resisting arrest, second-degree misdemeanors; and harassment, a summary offense.
According to the criminal complaint, at 8:31 p.m. Wednesday, Foster Township police were dispatched to Wildwood Avenue for an alleged assault. During the investigation, police determined that Hanold punched a juvenile in the stomach and put her in a choke hold.
When officers were attempting to arrest Hanold, she pulled away, told them not to touch her, fell to the ground and began kicking her feet. Two officers were able to subdue her and get her into a patrol car, the complaint stated. Hanold was argumentative, intoxicated and aggressive towards officers and the on-call magistrate.
Hanold was arraigned before District Judge David Engman and placed in McKean County Jail on $10,000 bail. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 1 before District Judge Rich Luther.
Duke Center man jailed for alleged assault
A Duke Center man was sent to jail following arraignment early Friday on assault allegations.
Matthew Pearce, 58, of 172 Main St., is charged with strangulation, a second-degree felony, and simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, at 8:46 p.m. Thursday, a woman called police to say Pearce had physically assaulted her by grabbing her neck with his hand and prevented her from breathing during an altercation that turned physical. She said Pearce discharged a loaded handgun within the residence toward the outside of the house.
Police arrived at 10:14 p.m., and Pearce refused to come outside. At 11:25 p.m., Pearce was taken into custody at the residence. He was arraigned before on-call District Judge David Engman and jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 1 before District Judge Rich Luther.
