MJ2KB would like to offer a friendly reminder that our trail club’s monthly meeting is coming up this Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Mount Jewett Library.
An update on the trail surface project from Mount Jewett to Lantz Corners: Our trail club volunteers (4 all together) are coming along slowly but surely. They have completed the new surface from the small trestle to U.S. Route 219, and are now working from that trestle toward Mount Jewett. This has been a hard, tedious project, but thankfully the weather has cooled down and it makes the work a little easier. Come to our meeting and learn all about the trials and successes the volunteers have had. We will plan a celebration when the project is near competition and let you know of the date and time.
We are still seeing a lot of ATV/UTV and dirt bike activity on the trail. If you know anyone who is riding these machines on the rail trail, please let them know it is not allowed, or report them to PA State Police.
We are now selling 50/50 raffle tickets ($1.00 ea) and will soon be selling “Bike Package” (includes bike, helmet, bike lock & riding gloves — $5.00/ticket) Raffle tickets. All proceeds go to maintaining and making improvements to 8 miles of the Knox & Kane Rail Trail from the Kinzua Bridge State Park and Lantz Corners.
We will have a National Trails Day event, June 4 at the end of the Knox & Kane Rail Trail near the Skywalk. Get a signup sheet from our Facebook Page or get one the day of the event and get sponsors for riding or hiking the KKRT. We will have food, raffle tickets and more at our table.
Thank you for your support of our trail club and the Knox & Kane Rail Trail.
