FUN AWAY: Are you looking to break away for a weekend but don’t want to commit to the high prices of air travel and hotel rooms? Two fun weekends are coming up just outside the area that could be tempting.
This Saturday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the parking lot of the Bradford YMCA, the 21st Century’s Annual CARNIPALOOZA is happening. Onsite will be a petting zoo, face painters, games, inflatables, balloon animals and so much more. Children will have a fun day and parents can learn more about the after school program.
Then, head out of town about an hour or so, south and a bit to the west for the next adventure of the day.
From May 21 to 22, in Marienville, ATV riders are invited to an exclusive tour through the Allegheny National Forest. Riders of any age will explore the area on designated forest roads not normally open to recreational vehicles. Helmets are required.
Take the time to set up accommodations before your journey and make a full weekend getaway out of this fun trail ride.
Another trip in the same area is a fully immersive living history event. The Cook Forest Living History Weekend runs from May 27 through 29 and includes storytellers from the French and Indian War, Colonial times, and the Civil War. First-person character portrayals, hands-on demonstrations, and music round out the experience at this free event.
If looking for more fun things to do, the Bradford Era will have an entire section devoted to venturing out this summer. Watch for it in the next week or so.
