The Bradford softball team continued its winning ways Wednesday, as Kalie Dixon threw five no-hit innings and the Lady Owls ran away with an 11-0, five-inning victory over Brockway.
Production throughout the batting order was once again the story for Bradford, as eight different players recorded a hit. Alanna Benson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and the Lady Owls scored in each of their four turns at-bat, benefitting in part from 10 Brockway errors.
“The kids played really well and there were some really nice plays in the field,” Bradford coach Marty Bechelli said. “The last two nights, we’ve made some great strides. We’re putting it together.”
Alyssa Johnson added a hit and two RBI for the Lady Owls, while Dixon also drove in a run. Dixon made her presence felt in the pitcher’s circle, striking out six batters in five frames while allowing four walks and 0 hits.
“(Dixon) pitched the best game she has this year,” Bechelli said. “She threw more pitches than she may have wanted, but once she got to full counts, she finished strong. Her catcher (Johnson) did a great job, as well.”
After a lethargic start to the season, the Lady Owls have now won five of their last six games, sitting at 7-12 on the year. They’ll conclude their season Friday, when they host Smethport.
