PORT ALLEGANY — Scoring 16 runs in a game is one thing.
On Monday evening, however, the Johnsonburg softball team did it twice. The Ramettes followed up their 16-0, three-inning victory over Port Allegany with a 16-1, four-inning triumph in Game 2.
The first tilt of Monday’s doubleheader saw an 11-run 2nd inning power Jburg’s lopsided victory. Payton Delhunty had a hit and three RBI while Julie Peterson was nearly perfect in the pitcher’s circle, tallying eight strikeouts while allowing 0 hits and one walk.
Game 2 saw a more widespread offensive outburst from the Ramettes, as Natalie Dunworth powered three hits and an RBI. Peterson and Zoey Grunthaner each tacked on two hits and three RBI, while Kelsey Heindl drove in a pair of runs.
Julia Jones got the Game 2 victory for Jburg, striking out four while scattering five hits. Cayle Lloyd had a hit and an RBI for Port.
Otto-Eldred 10, Allegany-Limestone 0, 6 innings
ALLEGANY, N.Y. — Abby Wolfe went 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBI to key Otto-Eldred to its 10th win of the year.
Bri Heller struck out 10 and surrendered just two hits and one walk in the circle. Jessi Hall was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Suzie Rounsville hit a two-run single for the Terrors (10-1), who plated three runs in each of the second and fifth innings before using a four-run 6th to eventually end it.
Kourtney Magara struck out four (5 walks) while scattering seven hits and she and Kelsey Shea picked up the two hits for Allegany-Limestone (3-14).
“They had good pitching,” O-E coach Roger Veilleux said of A-L. “That’s going to help us out down the road. We’ll see decent pitching the rest of the week.”
Oswayo Valley 15, Youngsville 0, 3 innings
SHINGLEHOUSE — A nine-run 2nd inning highlighted Oswayo Valley’s dominant victory over Youngsville.
Shayna Mesler went 3-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Lady Green Wave, while Leah Enty was 2-for-3 with three runs driven in. Charlotte Austin-Keech and Mackenzie Mesler each added two hits and two RBI.
Elk County Catholic 15, Smethport 0, 3 innings
ST. MARYS — A six-run 1st inning preceded a seven-run 2nd for Elk County Catholic, as the Lady Crusaders rolled over Smethport.
Lucy Klawuhn went 2-for-2 with two RBI for ECC, while Reagan Bauer, Lydia Anderson, Emily Mourer, Syd Alexander and Hope Farley each drove in a run. Mourer struck out seven in the circle for the Lady Crusaders.
Dani Nelson had Smethport’s lone hit.
BASEBALL
Elk County Catholic 11, Bradford 0, 5 innings
ST. MARYS — Elk County Catholic got offensive production from throughout its lineup, as eight Crusaders combined for 10 hits in a five-inning victory over Bradford.
Dom Zambanini reached in each of his three plate appearances for ECC, going 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBI. Joe Tettis was 2-for-3 with four runs driven in, while Joey Geci added two RBI.
Tettis and Ben Paul combined to dominate the Owls on the mound, striking out 11 while allowing one hit. Matt Miller accounted for Bradford’s lone hit.
