During the May meeting of the Otto Township Supervisors, Supervisor Chairman Eric Barton informed a small group of interested residents that “it’s a done deal, the former Armstrong building is now the property of the township.” The projected plans for the building include the continuation of the lease with the United States Postal Service, the expansion of the township’s meeting room and the inclusion of the soon-to-be formed Otto Township Police Department.
A stainless steel flagpole, to be erected in the Otto park, was recently donated by the Allegheny Bradford Corporation of Lewis Run. A thank you is extended from the supervisors for this generous gift. In other park business, it was suggested that some of the picnic tables are in disrepair and need to be replaced. Information of availability and pricing is being acquired. With baseball and softball seasons in full swing, parents and spectators are reminded to drive with caution entering and exiting the park.
To help residents stay informed on local issues, the supervisors are exploring the possibility of an Otto Township website. Anyone with the expertise and willingness to assist with this should contact the township office during business hours.
Residents are reminded that township-wide garage sale day is Saturday, June 11, with the annual Junk Day conveniently scheduled for Monday, June 13.
