TEACHERS WEEK: This week, May 2 to 6, is teachers week.
This is a week to celebrate all the amazing men and women who have taught us about the world and everything in it. These are the people our children will never forget. And, for many, mom was the first teacher in our lives. It only makes sense that as teachers’ week ends, mothers have Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Mothers and school teachers have taught everything from how to make a bed and tie your shoelaces, how to read a book and count without your fingers, use the computer for more than just gaming, how to drive a car, be kind to the new kid, and the quadratic equation, and change a diaper, how to file your taxes, balance a checkbook, write a resume?
Send a message, a card, stick a post-it note on a classroom door — just tell them thank you — teaching is harder than it looks.
In McKean County, there are 14 public schools serving 6,035 students this year, according to publicschoolreview.com How many teachers is that? And, how many mothers is that?
To all in the classrooms, online and in-person, the staff would like to say thanks. We each have our own special teachers who we remember and still, years later, talk about because of the impression they left and the enrichment they instilled on us.
Not that we will forget, but here’s to all the first teachers each of us had as well. We hope ALL the teachers have a wonderful week.
What will you be doing to thank the ones who taught you everything you thought you already knew?
