KANE — The Kane softball team won two games against Brockway on Saturday, one featuring much more drama than the other.
Makeiya McGuire’s 3-for-3 day at the plate led the Lady Wolves to an 8-3 victory in Game 1, as she added two doubles and an RBI. Maya Smith added a single and a triple for Kane, driving in two runs, while Jenny Crowley had two hits and Leah Tigani struck out five batters, allowing one earned run in seven innings pitched.
Game 2 proved to be anything but ordinary, however, as the Lady Wolves found themselves facing a 9-1 deficit after two innings. Despite surrendering 17 walks and committing six errors, the Kane stormed back to claim a 16-15 victory and sweep the doubleheader.
Hailey Slater was 4-for-4 with a double for Kane in Game 2, while Smith and Sadie Walter tallied three hits each. Madi Stahli added two hits, while Tigani had a single and two triples before picking up the save with 1.1 shutout innings in the circle.
Smethport 5, Galeton 1
GALETON — Dani Nelson went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and four runs batted in, as stingy defense and some timely hitting powered Smethport over Galeton for the Lady Hubbers’ first win of the year.
Celeste Austin added two hits for Smethport, which compiled nine total hits in the game. Tylar Colley picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle, scattering three hits while striking out three.
Smethport surrendered a run in the 1st inning before storming back with three in the 3rd and two more in the 7th.
Johnsonburg 11, Coudersport 3
COUDERSPORT — Johnsonburg scored six runs in the 6th inning to break open what had been a back-and-forth battle with Coudersport, eventually sealing a comfortable victory.
Jenna Kasmierski led the Ramette offense with three hits and an RBI, while Payton Delhunty had a hit and drove in two runs. Natalie Dunworth, Julie Jones, Zoey Grunthaner and Sophia Sorg each added a hit and an RBI for Jburg, which carried a 4-1 lead into its big 6th frame.
Julie Peterson struck out a whopping 18 batters for the Ramettes, allowing three walks and three hits along the way.
Emma Saulter, Ryelle Black and Laura Dunn each had a hit for Coudy.

Smethport 11,
Galeton 0, 5 innings
GALETON — John Adamoski went 2-for-3 with a run scored, leading Smethport over Galeton.
The Hubbers benefitted from six Galeton errors, scoring four runs each in the 2nd and 4th innings. Noah Lent had three RBI for Smethport, while Alex Ognen, Alex Cole and Cole Szuba each had a hit and an RBI.
Lent and Brenton McDowell combined for nine strikeouts in five innings pitched.
