Kappa Gamma
President Kathy Long welcomed members to Delta Kappa Gamma’s April 28 meeting.
Delta Kappa Gamma Society promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
The program for the evening was presented by Dr. Donna Dombek. The title of her presentation was Therapy That Barks, the “Tail” Continues. Dombek started with her lifelong love of dogs. Her pictures of her dogs and the beautiful quotes about the love and devotion of dogs touched all in the audience. Her research project was to see how the presence of a therapy dog in a public school classroom would impact students.
Dombek’s dog Ellie, a Trained Certified Therapy dog, spent many hours in a local classroom. Throughout the time spent with the students the dog gave emotional support to children who were struggling with stress.
Peggy Houser presented the treasurer’s report which was placed on file.
Members will continue to collect objects for children and adults at the YWCA Victim Resource Center. Cash donations for personal articles for the Victim Resource Center are always appreciated.
Our next meeting is the Delta Kappa Gamma summer outing on Friday, July 15. Watch for additional details or contact Rebecca Ryan: rryan123@hughes.com
