HOPEWELL (TNS) — A 9-year-old boy died after the ATV he was driving was hit by a car as he tried to cross a road in Bedford County on Saturday.
The crash occurred about 11:30 a.m. on Plank Road in Hopewell Township, PennLive reported. The boy was exiting a private driveway and traveling east on the paved, marked two-lane road when he collided with a southbound Nissan Altima, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The police report said the front of the car struck the side of the ATV.
The boy was wearing a helmet but died at the scene. He was not identified.
One of the five passengers in the Altima, a 27-year-old woman, suffered a suspected minor injury. The other passengers, which included boys ages 3 and 4 in car seats, were not hurt.
The driver of the Altima, who lives in Breezeway, was not cited in the crash.
