Possible injury and charges result of MVA in Eldred Twp.
LEWIS RUN — Lewis Run-based state police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at 10:46 p.m. Thursday on Bullis Mills Road near the intersection with Route 446.
According to the police report, Alyssa Thomas, 25, of Smethport, was traveling west on McCrea Brook when she fell asleep and subsequently drove through a stop sign, crossed over Route 446, and onto Bullis Mills Road. Thomas’ vehicle crossed the railroad tracks, struck a pile of asphalt and traveled an additional 20 yards before the vehicle came to a final rest facing northwest.
Thomas was charged with obedience to traffic-control devices.
Possible injuries to Thomas were suspected and she was transported to Olean General Hospital by Priority Care Ambulance.
Thomas’ vehicle was damaged and towed from the scene by C. L. McKeirnan’s Towing.
Assisting on scene was the Eldred Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Possible
injury, pending DUI charge after Wetmore Twp. MVA
LEWIS RUN — State police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at 8:48 p.m. on Thursday on U.S. Route 6 near the intersection with Biddle Street extension in Wetmore Township.
According to the police report, Thomas P. Horton, 57, was traveling east on Route 6, just east of Kane, when he lost control of the truck as he was navigating a curve in the road. Horton crossed into the westbound lane and then the west berm before leaving the roadway altogether. Once off the road, Horton entered the ditch and traveled approximately 50 feet before striking a utility pole.
Horton was arrested at the scene for DUI-alcohol. Charges will be filed through the McKean County Magisterial District Judge pending blood results.
Horton was not wearing a seatbelt, per the report.
Possible minor injuries to Horton were suspected and he was transported to UPMC Kane by Priority Care Ambulance.
Horton’s truck sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Flickerwood Towing.
Assisting on scene were Kane Volunteer Fire Department and Kane Police Department.
Possible charges in accidental
fire that caused $30K in damages
RIDGWAY — Pennsylvania State Police from the Ridgway barracks, State Fire Marshal Unit, responded at 4:31 p.m. April 11 to a residence on Long Level Road in Jones Township.
According to the report, the garage and vehicle of Ryan Lechien, 26, of Johnsonburg, was damaged in a fire originally started by his neighbor.
The origin of the initial cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. According to the report, Lechien’s 77-year-old neighbor was burning grass when the fire accidentally ignited a wooden garage and then damaged Lechien’s garage and vehicle.
Damages are estimated to be around $30,000.
Per the police report, charges of dangerous burning, to the unnamed neighbor, are anticipated.
