COUDERSPORT — The Coudersport softball team followed up a Friday nail-biter victory with a much more comfortable triumph on Saturday.
A 10-run 3rd inning and three dominant frames by Emma Saulter gave the Lady Falcons its second league win in as many days, as Coudy defeated Port Allegany, 17-0, in a three-inning contest Saturday.
Sierra Myers had three hits and six RBI in the abbreviated matchup, one of four Lady Falcons to notch multiple hits. Savannah Myers and Aubrey Thompson each drove in three runs, while Thompson tallied three hits, as well.
Saulter was 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk, an RBI and three runs. She was perfect in three frames, striking out each of the nine batters she faced.
Brockway 8, Smethport 1
BROCKWAY — Brockway’s five-run 2nd inning gave it an early lead, and the Lady Rovers didn’t look back from there, holding Smethport to four hits in a victory.
Smethport’s lone run came in the 4th, when Charity Lapp singled home Coryn McClain. Lapp also drew a walk in the game.
Tylar Colley struck out two batters over five innings of relief work for the Lady Hubbers.
Kane 11, Eisenhower 5
RUSSELL — Leah Tigani roped two doubles and two singles to lead Kane over Eisenhower.
Tigani also scored three runs for the Lady Wolves, as did Hailee Sheaffer and Maya Smith. Smith, Madison Stahli, Makieya McGuire and Lilly Peterson each doubled for Kane, while Stahli also picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle.
Stahli allowed three earned runs on just two hits while striking out four. Kane will host Elk County Catholic Monday.
BASEBALL
Port Allegany 4, Coudersport 0
COUDERSPORT — Sawyer Prince was at his best Saturday, striking out 16 batters in a three-hit shutout victory over Coudersport.
The senior lefty showed impressive command of his pitches, throwing a complete game in just 96 pitches without surrendering a walk. The win gave Port a season sweep over the Falcons.
The Gators got on the board early when Noah Archer scored on a throwing error following a steal of 3rd base. They’d add another run in the 4th on a fielder’s choice by Ian Dynda and two more on a Blaine Moses single in the 5th.
Prince took it from there, retiring each of the first six batters he faced. After a hit batsman produced his first base runner allowed, Prince proceeded to pick off the runner off at first.
Garrett Kellert threw five innings for Coudy, allowing just one earned run on four walks and five hits while striking out three.
