Poetry: Judy Haight Peterson sent The Era poetry from her booklet titled “Poems from teen to senior citizen.” We’ve shared a few below:
LIVING YOUR LIFE
A child needs help
To get ready for school
To go to the doctor
Is not so cool.
A teen needs help
To make some decisions
He has his parents there
To make some revisions.
Young adults need help
With some things we’re told
Just a few things
Because they’re not old.
Seniors might need help
With things from time to time
Most people think
They’re way past their prime.
Living your life
Is a personal journey.
While some family members
Will sometimes worry.
We are not out to pasture.
We are not unable to live.
No matter how much help
Our family wants to give.

MY FRIEND
From the beginning
To the end
In my heart
There lives a friend
A friend who is with me
Day by day
A friend who never lets me stray
Someday there will
Come an end
But in my heart, there
Lives a friend.
