The Bradford Water and Sanitary Authorities were busy last Friday hosting facility tours of both the Wastewater and Drinking water treatment plants.
Honored guests attending the tours were Sen. Cris Dush, R-Brookville and Rep. Martin Causer, R-Turtlepoint.
Executive Director Steve Disney conducted presentations reviewing the history, mission, capital projects and future needs of both authorities.
“Senator Dush and Representative Causer have been huge supporters of our authorities and our projects and we wanted to extend our sincere gratitude to them both and show them our progress,” Disney commented.
On the wastewater side, Disney reviewed the most recent capital projects which covered three individual phases and totaled $37.2 million in upgrades and improvements to the Bradford Wastewater plant which enabled the plant to not only meet the needs and regulatory requirements, but also designed excess capacity to encourage future economic development and growth across the entire Tuna Valley.
Plant wastewater tours enabled the public officials a first-hand view of their efforts.
On the drinking water side, Sen. Dush and Rep. Causer were instrumental in supporting two large capital projects. One being an $11.5 million dollar project to add a second 24-inch transmission main in 2020, and the current 2022 project, an $8.5 million dollar grant to replace all of the authorities’ known lead service lines.
A drinking water plant tour allowed both public officials to review water authority plans to develop a large capital upgrade project to the 37 year old facility which began operation in 1985.
Disney stated “I’m extremely proud of both authorities, our Board Members and our employees. The forward thinking of both authority boards has been an absolute key to continue improving our operations for our customers and the communities we serve. The talent level and skill of our employees is very rewarding. Our commitment to excellence in everything we inspire to do continues to provide dividends”.
