JOHNSONBURG — With the beginning of spring, Bendigo State Park will be offering a variety of programs in April.
Thinking about trying fishing but not sure you want to buy all the equipment needed to get started? From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 join staff of Bendigo State Park for their Tackle Loaner program. A park educator will be on hand to answer any angler questions and loan out all the gear needed to enjoy the opening day of trout season. Any individuals 16 years old or over must purchase a 2022 Pennsylvania fishing license with a trout stamp beforehand in order to participate.
Bring the family down to Bendigo and join a park educator to learn about the basics of fishing from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m on Saturday, April 9. The Are You a SMART Angler program is designed to allow kids the room to practice their casting skills and even sign out a rod with bait to try fishing the East Branch of the Clarion River. Anyone 16 years of age or older must purchase a 2022 Pennsylvania fishing license with a trout stamp beforehand in order to fish.
Enjoy a Story and Stroll at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16. Take some time to enjoy nature with young children. A park educator will read a story and then lead participants on a stroll through the park. This program is recommended for families with children 3 to 7 years old. Participants are to meet at Pavilion #1.
Celebrate the 52nd annual Earth Day by helping to spruce up Bendigo State Park during their Earth Day Clean-Up program at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 23. Groups and individuals are welcome and the park will provide buckets and other equipment for picking up trash. The only things participants will need are a pair of gloves and enthusiasm.
