One of two Western Pennsylvania pets could become Hershey’s next Cadbury Bunny.
The animals are vying for the title in the annual competition to find a furry or feathered friend to star in a Hershey commercial for Cadbury Creme Eggs, one of the more popular Easter candies. In addition to starring in a commercial, the winner earns a $5,000 prize.
Out of thousands of entries, it’s down to the final 10 — and two of them are from Western Pennsylvania.
Skeeter, a blue Pacific Parrotlet from Pittsburgh, is described on the contest’s website as being the size and color of a blue Easter egg. His entry says the chatty bird has the personality of a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Reese, a 2-year-old Biro dog with a “chocolate colored coat to match his love of Cadbury,” is representing Hermitage in the contest. The pup regularly models to raise money for animal rescue through several organizations.
People can vote for their favorite animal once a day through March 22 and read more about the contestants on the Bunny Tryouts website.
Other finalists include Will O’ Wisp, a white cat from Texas who has thumbs, Eclipse, a bunny from New York and Sprinkles, a sugar glider from Utah.
Cadbury is donating $5,000 to the ASPCA, along with an added $5,000 for every 5,000 votes, up to $20,000.
The original Cadbury bunny commercial aired in 1983.
