CLAYSBURG — Despite a 16-point performance from Payton Delhunty, a pair of double-digit scorers powered the Williamsburg girls basketball team over Ridgway, 49-37, in Wednesday’s first round of the PIAA Class A playoffs.
Delhunty paced the Lady Elkers throughout the game, scoring in each quarter, but 17 points by Williamsburg’s Krista Simpson and another 15 by Kendel Norris were too much for Ridgway to overcome.
Carli Thomas added 11 points for the Lady Elkers while Jenna Kasmierski chipped in with six. Ridgway closes its season at 15-10 while Williamsburgh, the District 6 runner-up, advances to Saturday’s Round of 16.
