Foster Township supervisors approved a resolution to apply for funding for new vehicles Monday.
The supervisors unanimously approved an application for $260,000 through Pennsylvania’s Local Share Account (statewide) grant program for a new police vehicle and a new dump truck for the township.
The grant offers funding for projects in the public interest and projects that improve the quality of life of citizens in the community. Eligible projects must be owned and maintained by an eligible applicant or a nonprofit organization. Eligible applicants include Pennsylvania counties, municipalities, municipal authorities, Economic Development agencies and Redevelopment authorities.
Supervisor Chairman George Hocker stated the grant covers several things, and vehicles are included.
Foster Township Police Chief Tom Munn reported that the police department patrolled 4,510 miles in the month of February, handled 161 complaints, 10 motor-vehicle accidents and issued 33 citations. Officers also handled 19 criminal investigations.
The road crew pushed back snow berms and patched potholes as needed. They also sanded and plowed 15 times during the month of February.
Two code enforcement complaints were received in February, both garbage related. One was resolved and the other, involving a trailer parked along East Main Street, is in progress, according to Code Enforcement Officer Kevin Shaffer. Contact was made with individuals regarding the issue and they stated they would relay the message to the owner of the trailer in question.
