Boy Scouts Matthew Joseph Nolte and Josh Michael Hall were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on Saturday during an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at the Mt. Jewett Veteran’s Memorial.
The Eagle Scout Award is the highest rank attainable and requires a total of 21 merit badges including 13 specific badges. Each scout is also required to complete a project. Nolte created a display about the history of scouting in McKean County at the Old Jail Museum. Hall built a pavilion for the National Forest’s Kinzua Bridge Rail Trail.
Scoutmaster Geer during his tenure has had 53 Eagle Scouts, 28 while here at Troop 410 in Mt Jewett.
He has also led scouts on 15 trips to the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in New Mexico where the scouts hike the trails for 10 days using many of their skills.
Nolte has made this trip three times and Hall has gone twice.
