This year’s primary election ballot in Pennsylvania will include candidates for the Pennsylvania governor and lieutenant governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
Current Rep. Martin Causer, R-Turtlepoint, has announced his intention to run again for the Pennsylvania House 67th District, while U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Pa., has signaled his intention to seek re-election to Pennsylvania’s 15th congressional district.
Gov. Tom Wolf will not run again for governor, as he has served two terms. For the race for Pennsylvania governor, the Republican field holds the following: Doug Mastriano, Lou Barletta, Shawn Berger, Melissa Hart, Joe Gale, Charlie Gerow, Jason Richey, John Ventre, Dr. Nche Zama, William McSwain, Jake Corman and Dave White. On the Democratic side, Josh Shapiro, Tega Swan and William Parker are seeking the nomination.
For the Senate race, current U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., is not seeking re-election. So far it’s a crowded field for the seat. For the Democratic nomination, current Lt. Gov. John Fetterman is running, as are Conor Lamb, Kevin Baumlin, Kael Dougherty, Larry Johnson, Malcolm Kenyatta, Alexandria Khalil, John McGuigan, Kyle Norton, Alan Shank, Walter Sluzynsky and Lew Tapera.
For the Republican nomination, the candidates who have declared they are seeking the seat include Jeff Bartos, Mehmet Oz, David McCormick, Kathy Barnette, George Bochetto, John Debellis, John Eichenberg, Sean Gale, Robert Jeffries, Ronald Johnson, Richard Mulholland, Max Richardson, Martin Rosenfeld, Carla Sands, Everett Stern and David Xu.
Also up for election will be state and county committee seats for both parties.
As of Monday, not all of the dates have been finalized on the state’s elections calendar due to ongoing litigation regarding legislative reapportionment.
The general primary is slated for May 17. The last day to register before the primary is May 2.
