Drug charges bound to
court Tuesday
SMETHPORT — Several drug-related charges against a Smethport woman were bound to McKean County Court at a hearing Tuesday before District Judge Bill Todd.
Nichole D. Austin, 34, of 2982 East Valley Road, will face the following charges in the Court of Common Pleas: possessing a precursor to methamphetamine and possession with the intent to deliver, felonies; three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana, misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, a traffic stop in November in which drugs were found led police to Austin’s home, where police found leftover materials from making meth, along with a small amount of meth and of marijuana and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
Austin remains jailed on $60,000 bail.
Kane man fined for unnecessary 911 calls
KANE — A Kane man entered guilty pleas on Tuesday before District Judge David Engman in four separate cases involving him making repeated and unnecessary 911 calls.
Anthony J. Chirillo, 63, of 119 ½ Greeves St., is charged with communications with 911 in each case, and in the fourth case, he is charged with harassment as well.
The criminal complaints for each case are similar, stating that Chirillo called 911 for baseless reasons. Since January 2021, he had called 911 more than 90 times — an average of every four days. In each case, the officer noted he had discussed with Chirillo the proper reasons for calling 911, the complaints read.
His complaints included his roommate calling him “a predator,” and for someone being in his apartment and he wanted him to leave, the complaints read.
Chirillo pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay fines and court costs in each case, totaling $552.
