DRIVING: With traffic congestion costing U.S. drivers an average of 36 hours and $564 during 2021, the personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on 2022’s Best & Worst States to Drive in.
To determine the most driver-friendly states in the U.S., the report compared the 50 states across 31 key metrics ranking them from best to worst. The data set ranges from average gas prices to rush-hour traffic congestion to road quality.
The overall best state to drive in, according to the report by WalletHub, is Iowa, while the worst is Hawaii. As far as the cost of ownership and maintenance to drive the best state to live in is Tennessee. The state with the best traffic and infrastructure for driving is North Dakota and the safest state to drive in is Connecticut.
Driving during rush-hour traffic congestion shouldn’t be much of an issue for residents in the state of Pa., according to the report, Pa. scored well above average during this data set. Perhaps the fact that Pennsylvania scored in the top five ranking for car dealerships and auto-repair shops per capita is necessary since the report also found that among Pa.’s worst rankings were the cost of auto maintenance and quality of roadways.
