BEST STATE TO RETIRE? With 27% of all non retired adults having no retirement savings, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2022’s Best States to Retire.
To help retirees find a safe, enjoyable and wallet-friendly place to call home, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 47 key metrics to examine affordability, health-related factors and overall quality of life.
Overall, WallHub found that the best state to retire to was Florida, while the overall worst state was New Jersey. In addition, the study found that the most affordable state to retire to was Alabama, the state with the best quality of life was determined to be Massachusetts, and the state with the best health care was Minnesot.
Taking a look at how Pennsylvania ranked in this study, retiring in Pennsylvania the adjusted cost of living scored a bit below average while the annual cost of in-home services scored just a bit above average.
As far as population of individuals aged 65 and older Pennsylvania was ranked in the top ten. Pa. also scored above average in the property-crime rate and health-care facilities per capita portions of the study. Taking the current pandemic into account, Pa. scored average for the percentage of residents, aged 12 and older, who were fully vaccinated..
