A Port Allegany man was sent to jail following an arraignment for alleged strangulation Thursday night.

Kelli James Allen, 21, was charged with strangulation, a third-degree felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary offense.

According to the criminal complaint, on Thursday, a female victim called police because of an altercation with Allen. She told police that he was upset because she couldn’t help him fix the car, and threw his phone down and smashed it with a hammer. She walked away and he started emptying out the trunk onto the ground. He started asking where the house phone was, but she didn’t know. He started to cause damage to the car, so she found the phone. He wanted the phone, but she said no. He choked her, grabbed the phone from her and let go. She walked away and called 9-1-1.

Allen was arraigned before District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to McKean County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 24.

Bradford man jailed for alleged disturbance

A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail following an alleged disturbance in a vehicle on East Main Street.

Matthew Borza, 42, is charged with terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary offense.

According to the criminal complaint, a female had picked up Borza at a hotel where he was staying in Bradford. While driving, the two began arguing before he smashed things inside the car and began striking her in the arm. She pulled into Kwik Fill to call 9-1-1, at which time Borza threatened to kill her, the complaint stated.

Borza was arraigned before District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 26.
