Otto-Eldred 62, Smethport 30
DUKE CENTER — Otto-Eldred’s offense couldn’t be contained as they beat Smethport with eight players scoring.
The first quarter featured two explosive offenses, with O-E taking a 14-13 lead. The Terrors clamped down on defense after that, holding Smethport to just six points in the second quarter. While O-E scored 25 in the same period. The team was lethal from long range, hitting eight 3-pointers behind big nights from Landon Francis and Manning Splain.
Francis scored a game-high 19 points with four triples while Splain had a three-piece of 3-pointers and finished with 14. Francis also had eight assists to pilot the Terror’s offense. Splain had four assists and five rebounds as the guard duo powered O-E on both ends.
Alex Ognen led Smethport with nine points, six coming in the Hubbers big first quarter.
“Got off to a little (bit of) a slow start,” said O-E head coach Steve Bell. “But switched to a one-three-one and aggressive defense led to some good offense.”
This was the first game for O-E in some time due to a Covid pause, but aside from the first quarter, Bell is happy his team shook the rust off.
“We were coming off a long layoff and we weren’t sure how the kids would respond,” Bell said. “But it didn’t take them long to get back in a groove. Our two freshmen guards had really nice games. It was good to see a lot of kids get on the box score.”

Port Allegany 71,
Galeton 18
GALETON — Port Allegany had four double-digit scorers as they ran away from Galeton in a big league win.
Braylon Button led the Gators with 24 points as the big man was unstoppable near the rim. He had 12 points to help Port build its first quarter lead and pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Blaine Moses also had a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Drew Evens had 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Jett Ruding had 10 points.
“We knew that we had a height advantage coming into the game,” said Port head coach Kyle Babcock. “So we really wanted to feed our bigs inside. (Button) and (Moses) both had a huge game for us, both with a double-double. I believe this was (Button’s) career high.”
Gavin Sykora led Galeton with nine points including two 3-pointers. Despite the lopsided score, Babcock saw fight from Galeton and had to adjust in-game to keep Port ahead on defense.
“It was an all-around great team win,” said Babcock. “I give Galeton credit, they are smaller, but have some kids that can shoot. They hit some three’s early on, forcing us to come out of our zone and play man. We just did a great job rebounding and getting to the basket.”
