PORT ALLEGANY — St. Marys used seven bonus-point wins to defeat Port Allegany, 39-30, in a Tuesday dual meet.
Aiden Beimel (106 pounds), Zachary Winslow (120), Jaden Wehler (138), Waylon Wehler (189) and Bryson Tucker (HWT) each secured victories by fall for the Flying Dutchmen. Andrew Wolfanger worked to a 17-0 technical fall victory at 145, while Lane Dellaquilla earned a major decision over Dayton Sherwood at 152.
Port won two matches by pin, including Caleb Furgeson at 160 and Miska Young at 215, while winning two more by decision. Kai Stauffer earned an 8-1 decision for the Gators at 113, beating St. Marys’ Dakota Lackham, while Gavin Burgess gutted out a 6-3 victory over Isaac Dellaquilla at 172.
“There were a couple matches that could’ve went either way and unfortunately they went the wrong way for us,” Port coach Brad Greenman said. “Overall, we wrestled well, and it was a good match to get us started into the bulk of the season.”
