RESOLVE: As we head toward 2022, we would like to share some resolutions to improve physical and mental health.
Physical Health: Work out to feel good, not to be thinner. Remember that numbers are not the only criteria. Being more active helps you feel better.
Drink more water. We all need to, as it seems that 75% of us are chronically dehydrated.
Try taking the stairs — or parking farther away. Taking more steps is good for your health.
Go to the dentist. Far too many of us are ignoring our dental health, which can impact our heart and lungs.
Mental Health: Clear out the clutter: this one is good for your home and work and for your mental health all at once. Clutter is stressful, so cleaning and becoming organized can get you on a better path for the new year.
Skip checking your email for an entire day. Those messages can wait. Also, try turning off your phone one night per week while you sleep. Again, any information that would come through can wait until morning.
Stop multitasking. It can increase anxiety and actually hurt your brain. Create a new habit of focusing on one thing at a time.
Skip the gossip. Being positive instead of negative can be a good thing for you and for those around you. On that note, try giving one compliment a day. Also, try fitting in random acts of kindness. They will do wonders for the recipient and also boost your mood as well.
Volunteering for a local organization or at the local animal shelter also helps your mood and gives to those in need at the same time.
We will share some other fun resolutions in a future RTS.
