SHEFFIELD — Thanks to a big fourth quarter and a 17-point performance from Alex Ognen, Smethport pulled away from Sheffield and advanced to the championship game of the host’s Christmas tournament.
Ognen scored 10 of his points in a final period that saw the Hubbers, after trailing by two points going in, out-score the Wolverines 14-6. Preston Alfieri tacked on seven points for Smethport, while Brandon Higley and John Adamoski each scored five points.
Tony Richards led the Wolverines with 12 points, nine of which came via a trio of 3-pointers.

KANE — Maya Smith and Cora Jekielek once again combined to lead Kane, this time combining for 26 points in a win over Youngsville.
Smith poured in 14 points while Jekielek added 12 points, the duo nearly matching Youngsville’s scoring total on its own. Sadie Walter tacked on seven points for Kane, while Mia Anderson and Aubri Haight each scored six points.
