KANE — Gavin Burgess pinned his opponent at 172 pounds, and Ian O’Shea and Caleb Furgeson each won by decision, leading Port Allegany over Kane.
O’Shea took a 7-0 decision over Kayin Bard at 106 pounds, while Furgeson edged Kane’s Luke Ely, 1-0, at 160 pounds in the night’s premier match.
“(Furgeson) wrestled a great match,” Port coach Brad Greenman said. “He’s a senior starting for the first time, so he’s really stepping up and enjoying being on the mat. He’s ogng out there and just letting it fly, and getting the results he deserves because of it.”
The Wolves took a handful of decisions, as well, as Reece Bechakas worked his way to a 7-1 victory over Ian Dynda at 145. Alex Bechakas won by major decision at 152, claiming a 10-0 victory over Port’s Dayton Sherwood, while Shawn Nystrom earned a 4-0 decision over Juuso Young at heavyweight.
Harley Morris (138) and Addison Plants (189) each pinned their opponents for Kane.
“As a team, it seems like we keep wrestling better with every dual,” Greenman said. “I’m hoping we can keep this momentum going.”
