University of Pittsburgh at Bradford junior Nathan Schneider was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s men’s basketball player for the third time this season after his strong individual performance against Pitt-Greensburg this weekend.
Schneider, a St. Marys Area High School alumnus, scored 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the Panthers’ tough loss to Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday. He made 12-of-17 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.
He also dished out five assists and blocked a shot. Schneider had previously been named conference player of the week on Nov. 15 and 29. He is currently second in the AMCC in scoring with 19.8 points per game and 1st in rebounding at 10.5 per contest.
The Panthers defeated Penn State-DuBois 94-62 to close out 2021 with a 6-5 record. Schneider scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, while Isaiah Archie scored a team-high 26 points and Greg Archie added 16 points.
UPB will return to action after the New Year with a non-conference home game with Hiram on Jan 3. The Panthers will then return to AMCC play with home games against Mount Aloysius (Jan. 5) and Penn State-Behrend (Jan. 8).
