WESTFIELD — Northern Potter used a big third quarter and 13 points by Courtney Martin to pull away and defeat Cowanesque Valley in the first round of the latter’s tip-off tournament.
Rebecca Martin added nine points for the Lady Panthers, who relied on a bench that rose to the occasion when needed. Megan Hyde led NoPo in offensive rebounds while Abbie Cady played an important defensive role.
CV was led by Ella Churchill’s 10 points.

The Lady Wolves jumped out to a 33-point halftime lead and never looked back. Mia Anderson tacked on 12 points for Kane, while Sadie Walter added nine points.

JOHNSONBURG — Julie Peterson scored 16 points and Payton Delhunty added 10 points to lead Ridgway over Coudersport in the first round of the Johnsonburg Tournament.
The duo did its damage largely in the paint, as Jenna Kasmierski connected on the Lady Elkers’ lone 3-point field goal. She finished with nine points.
Ridgway enjoyed a +17 point differential in the second quarter, which the Lady Falcons could not overcome despite slowing Ridgway’s offense in the second half. Coudy was paced by Liz Frame’s nine points, while Sierra Myers tallied eight points.

JOHNSONBURG — Jayssa Snelick led her team to an opening night win on the road with 14 points, four assists, five steals and six rebounds.
Neither side put up offensive fireworks, combining for just two made 3-pointers and 10 made free throws. But St. Marys stepped up on defense, cleaning the glass to 19 rebounds on the night. Izzy Catalone had seven steals while Holly Anthony had three. Maura Caskey had three steals to go along with her 12 points and perfect free throw shooting.
St. Marys’ ball movement helped it out greatly, as the team combined for 14 assists on the night.
St. Marys will meet Ridgway this afternoon in the Johnsonburg Tournament championship game, while Jburg will meet Coudersport in the consolation game.

GALETON — Each team struggled at the free throw line.
In Friday’s first-round Galeton Tournament game, however, Bucktail simply got to the charity stripe more often than Austin, converting 10-of-27 free throw attempts to protect what was an 11-point lead going into the fourth quarter.
Jurie Green scored 14 points to lead Bucktail while Isabella Rees led the way for Austin with eight points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Savannah Horton added four points and eight rebounds for the Lady Panthers, while Ella Brewer provided six points, five steals, four rebounds and three assists.
