SPORTS CITIES: The personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on 2021’s Best Sports Cities, and Pittsburgh and Philadelphia made the Top 10.
Boston, Mass., was the city named #1 for the likelihood a game is on for one of the five largest sports in the U.S.: football, basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer. Boston was followed by Los Angeles, and New York City. Pittsburgh was named No. 4 and Philadelphia No. 5. Rounding out the Top 10 were Denver, Colo., Washington, DC, Dallas, Tex., Chicago, Ill. and Miami, Fla.
The list also has the Top 10 midsize sports cities, which includes Buffalo, NY, as No. 1. For the best small sports cities, State College, PA., came in at No. 7.
When considering Best versus Worst, the report states that NHL fans in Pittsburgh are 28.1 times friendlier and more engaged than their New York counterparts. Also, Pittsburgh has the lowest average MLB ticket price, $20.75, which is 2.9 times lower than in Boston, the city with the highest at $60.09.
