EMPORIUM — An Emporium man is in Potter County Jail for allegedly burning a woman with a butane torch in an incident on Sunday.
Emporium-based state police said James Vincent Clinger, 29, is charged with aggravated assault — serious bodily injury with extreme indifference, a first-degree felony; recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest and simple assault, second-degree misdemeanors; possession of a controlled substance and of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct, a summary offense.
According to police, at 1:22 p.m. Oct. 31, state police responded to a welfare check and determined that Clinger had burned a victim multiple times with a butane torch.
Clinger was arraigned before on-call District Judge Mark Jacob in St. Marys and remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Nov. 18 before District Judge Barry Brown in Emporium.
