SPORTS ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Rob Drummond wrote in recently, sharing the following with The Era staff:
“I see, nearly daily recently, coverage in another era and the sports pages, accomplishments of athletes from years past in the Bradford area, particularly from scholastic events. In 1971 the Bradford High School Rifle Team won the National Championship(not their first — or last). Not only that, but the second string won National Champion Runner-up, and the third string placed ninth in the National Championship Tournament.”
He thought it would be worth mentioning, and we agree. Kudos to those team members.

BACA HAS A SIGN: The Bradford Area Christian Academy was founded in 1983 and has marked milestones along the way — but recently it marked another with the installation of a sign.
In the entire time that BACA has been educating students, it has not had an official sign to mark its location.
Administrator Michele Panek took over in summer 2019, and she made a sign for the academy a priority.
Pastor Seth McClymonds, who was First United Methodist’s pastor at that time, was supportive of the idea and suggested some contacts to help the project succeed. Panek’s husband helped create a design in CAD. The design was approved by the Bradford Area Christian Academy School Board, First United Church’s Trustees, and then submitted to HARB for review and approval.
Once approved by HARB, it was also approved by City Council in July 2021. Heath Cousins of Cousins Designs in Eldred built the sign and installed it, just in time for Pumpkin Fest in September.
According to the school’s newsletter, the school staff and students are thrilled.
