A Bradford woman charged with the alleged arson of a vacant residence she owned was arraigned on related charges on Friday.
Tina Stack, 53, was charged with arson — danger of death or serious injury, a first-degree felony; arson — intent to collect insurance, a second-degree felony; false insurance claim, a third-degree felony; and disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 14, 2019, she was seen entering a vacant residential rental property she owned. About 10 minutes later, she left. Shortly thereafter, a witness saw smoke coming from the residence and called 9-1-1.
According to the state police fire marshal investigation, fire patterns showed the blaze had started in a rubbish pile on the floor of the garage by the residence near an entrance to the home. A sofa had been dragged to the entrance of the home, and had minimal fire damage, as it was extinguished by fire fighters. A melted container that had held gasoline was found at the scene as well, the complaint alleged.
Stack had filed an insurance claim, but upon investigation, it was denied, according to the complaint.
She was arraigned Friday before District Judge Dom Cercone and released on $50,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing has been set for Nov. 3 before Cercone.
