The Otto Township Cemetery Association held its final meeting of 2021 Thursday night and will be electing officers at the initial 2022 meeting, scheduled for next May 19.
Anyone interested in joining the association, as an officer or member, is asked to contact President Sharon Schwab at (814) 558-4973. Schwab thanked the current officers for their dedication, along with caretakers Cody Stone and Bill Prescott.
The signs for both the Rixford and Duke Center properties are to be placed this month by Cousin’s Designs. The two overgrown bushes at the Rixford property were removed to make room for the sign. A new entrance into the Duke Center cemetery will be cleared by Rich Armidon the next time he is called to open a grave.
Schwab is having copies made of the existing map —-one of which is hand drawn on an old window blind — to ease the chore of identifying plot locations and names of the interred. A database will be established in the near future to further aid in this task.
Coleen McVinney was welcomed into the Association and will be instrumental as it prepares for the new year and beyond.
