Fretz 12, Beaty-Warren 8
WARREN — In a game defined by defense, Fretz’s was just a little bit better.
Fretz used a late-game defensive stand to preserve its lead and beat Beaty-Warren, driving the Dragons back from the Fretz two-yard line before keeping them out of the end zone the rest of the possession.
Andrew Giordano threw two touchdown passes to Logan Kohler, who racked up 157 yards. Brody Haviland added 52 rushing yards for Fretz, which utilized a break in the evening’s rain to score its pair of touchdowns.
Kolton Miller had two interceptions and four tackles on defense, while Jacob Abers recorded 13 tackles and Sean Ward added six tackles.
Fretz will travel to DuBois next Thursday.
Cameron County 34, Sheffield 20
EMPORIUM — Four different Cameron County players scored touchdowns in the Red Raiders’ win over Sheffield.
Silus Pearson had a 50-yard touchdown while Shakuan Karns scored from 34 yards out. Malchi Zucal added a 20-yard TD run and also returned a kickoff 56 yards for a score. Bo Pearsall led CC’s defensive effort with five tackles.
For Sheffield, John Holden led the way on offense with two touchdowns and two 2-point conversions.
CC will travel to Coudy Monday.
JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL
Fretz 15, DuBois 4
(7th grade)
DuBois 28, Bradford 4 (8th grade)
DUBOIS — The seventh grade team dominated in a 15-4 win over DuBois on Thursday.
Haley Keane led with eight points for Bradford while Daisy Greene nabbed seven.
DuBois struck back in the eighth grade game winning 28-4.
Sophia Lama and Haley Keane had two points each for the Lady Owls.
Bradford plays next on Monday at Beaty Warren Middle School.
Fretz 21, Johnsonburg 16 (7th grade)
Johnsonburg 27, Fretz 10 (8th grade)
On Wednesday, Fretz won over Johnsonburg in the seventh grade game 21-16 behind big games from Shavia Long and Daisy Greene.
Long had eight points while Greene had nine with Haley Keane pitching in four points for good measure.
Johnsonburg bounced back in the eighth grade game winning 27-10 over Fretz.
Brooke Clouser led the Lady Owls with four points. Addison Carter, Maranda Davis and Brianna Leo all contributed two points each.
