SMETHPORT — A Bradford woman who was charged with abuse of children age 13 and under was found guilty Tuesday by a McKean County Court jury.

Jaimie Case, 32, whose address is listed as 153 Main St., Room 318, was convicted of crimes related to the physical abuse of three minor children following a two-day jury trial at the McKean County Courthouse. The trial was held Monday and Tuesday.

The McKean County District Attorney’s office reported that Case was convicted of two counts of strangulation, both second-degree felonies; four counts of simple assault, two of which were first-degree misdemeanors and two of which are second-degree misdemeanors; and a count of endangering the welfare of children, a third-degree felony.

Case, along with Joseph G.P. Smith, 43, of the same address, was charged in February 2021 with abuse of three children, ages 10 to 13, over the course of a year. According to the criminal complaint, Case and Smith punched, kicked, hit, strangled and stomped on the children.

The criminal complaint indicated the children were interviewed by the Children’s Advocacy Center in Smethport, and shared stories of incidents where they were choked until they passed out, hit with a metal pole or with fists and feet. One of the children stated Case would stomp on his head when he tried to get up after falling to the floor.

Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade prosecuted the case. Sentencing was scheduled for Nov. 30.
