The Keystone Trails Association (KTA) provides an opportunity to learn about dozens of individual hiking clubs, so that’s worth a look. Visit kta-hike.org/major-trails-and-find-a-club.html for information.
The advice is to become a volunteer and learn a new trail by donating your time for maintaining that trail. The article notes that KTA has volunteers that spend 3,000 to 4,000 hours doing trail work each year.
Local hiking clubs are a good resource if you want to give backpacking a shot.
