October may be winding down, but things are not slowing down at the Bradford Area Public Library.
On Thursday, Nate Bottorf, owner of Aerial Imaging Services, will provide much-needed guidance for individuals interested in becoming first-time drone owners.
Stabilized flight, obstacle avoidance and return-to-home features will be explained by Bottorf. Drone Basics for the First-Time Buyer is a prerecorded, virtual program that will premier on the library’s Facebook page at 6 p.m.
Bottorf’s advice will aid consumers in making an informed purchase. Program participants will learn the necessary features a drone should possess that make the drone experience more enjoyable, fruitful and less exasperating.
On Friday, at 2 p.m. Scott Canfield of Erie, will be sharing his research of a deadly 1884 train wreck that occurred just outside of Bradford on a snowy January morning. However, it wasn’t the snowy conditions that led to the horrific event.
Learn the part that local oil played in this accident as well as the fate of the survivors and the multiple female victims. Canfield will even delve into the ensuing courtroom drama and the involvement of the powerful Standard Oil Company owned by John D. Rockefeller.
The Veil of Fire is an in-person program and all are welcome.
In honor of the Halloween holiday local author, Bill Robertson will be sharing his Gothic Poetry Slam video in its entirety on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. on the library’s Facebook page.
During this virtual program, Robertson will be reciting 60 of his spookiest poems while a slideshow of eerie photos and creepy music plays in the background. The goal of a poetry slam is to deliver one poem after another in quick succession. Robertson recorded three segments of 20 poems each, with none of the segments exceeding eight minutes in length.
