Punxsutawney 3, Bradford 0
PUNXSUTAWNEY – It was a close affair throughout, but Punxsy edged out Bradford in three sets (25-17, 25-20, 25-21).
Alix Ordiway had seven kills for Bradford. Cam Tilford had four kills and two blocks while Kalie Dixon had four kills and 14 assists.
Bradford hosts Johnsonburg today at 6 p.m.
Oswayo Valley 3, Otto-Eldred 0
DUKE CENTER – Oswayo Valley won two close sets before finishing strong to win in three against Otto-Eldred (27-25, 25-21, 25-16).
Avaree Keller led the way as a sniper for Oswayo with five aces, 23 service points, 11 kills, 10 digs, one assist and two blocks. Jadyn Brabham helped out on offense with 17 kills, six service points, two aces, five digs and three blocks. Trinity Lundy poured in 25 assists to go along with five digs and three service points, while Makenna Manning had one kill, one dig and three blocks.
For O-E, Anna Merry had one kill, eight digs, two aces and 16 assists. Brianna Silvis helped on defense with 11 digs, three blocks, two aces and three kills. Katie Sheeler had six kills and eight digs. While Kaley Rhinehart chipped in with two kills, six digs, three aces and 13 service points.
Otto-Eldred travels to Cameron County on Tuesday.
Elk County Catholic 3, Ridgway 0
ST MARYS – Elk County Catholic squeaked by a close opening set before winning comfortably in three sets against Ridgway (25-22, 25-14, 25-14).
The team spread the ball around on offense, Tori Newton led with nine kills. Moira Stanisch passed out 15 assists and Madison Marzullo earned three blocks.
“Our serving continues to help us gain points,” said coach Tricia Bauer. “But we really need to work on cutting down our unforced errors and getting better passes.”
Northern Potter 3, Smethport 1
SMETHPORT – A back-and-forth game the whole night, Northern Potter finished strong to beat Smethport in four sets, (25-23, 13-25, 25-21, 25-22).
For Northern Potter, Megan Hyde led the way with 16 service points, three digs, two assists and one kill. Justine David had nine service points, six digs, eight assists, one kill and one block. Madison Hoopes had nine digs and four kills while Molly Cady had four kills and one block.
Baylee Fitzsimmons had a standout defensive performance for Smethport with 37 digs as well as seven aces, two service points, four assists and three kills. Madi Faes dished out 29 assists to go along with one ace, six service points, nine digs, four kills and two blocks. Coryn McClain had three aces, 10 service points, three digs, one assist, five kills and one block. While Kaylee Swanson had five aces, two service points, 14 digs, one assist, eight kills and three blocks.
Smethport goes to Oswayo Valley today.
