Mount Jewett man jailed for
alleged threats
A Mount Jewett man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly fighting with police and threatening to kill a state trooper.
Rodney S. Howse Jr., 31, of Maple Lane, is charged with terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; resisting arrest and two counts of criminal mischief, second-degree misdemeanors; two counts of disorderly conduct, third-degree misdemeanors; and summary offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, around 9 p.m. Sunday, state police were dispatched to Howse’s residence for a domestic incident, where Howse was reported to be yelling, and loud noises like banging and breaking glass could be heard coming from his residence. Neighbors contacted police out of concern for children on the scene.
Troopers spoke to Howse, who said he was in an argument with his wife. He was told to sit on the porch while a trooper checked the residence. Howse began yelling at the trooper and approaching him in an aggressive manner, despite being told to sit down. He ignored commands and argued with troopers, and was subsequently taken to the ground and detained for the safety of the officers and other people at the scene, the criminal complaint stated.
He continued to yell and curse, and was placed under arrest. When in the patrol car, he began headbutting the window in an attempt to break it, managed to unbuckle his seatbelt and started kicking the window. He then began threatening to kill the trooper and continued to yell at him, the complaint stated.
Howse was arraigned before District Judge David Engman and remanded to jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was set for 1 p.m. Oct. 18.
Bradford woman jailed for
alleged break-in
A Bradford woman is in McKean County Jail on allegations that she broke into a Homestead Avenue, Bradford, residence on Saturday.
Hailey N. Corbett, 20, of West Corydon Street, is charged with criminal trespass — break into structure, a second-degree felony; possessing an instrument of crime, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and two summary offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, at 10:43 a.m. Saturday, Corbett broke a window at a Homestead Avenue residence and when the resident went to the door to see what was happening, Corbett pushed her way into the home. A male resident saw her and pulled her outside by her shoulders. Once outside, Corbett pulled a knife and threatened the male, making stabbing motions, the complaint stated.
All of the witnesses told police that it appeared Corbett was under the influence of something.
Before the police arrived, Corbett began walking away, but another person followed her until police arrived. Police said she appeared confused, would not identify herself, would not follow commands and pulled two knives out of her pocket, the complaint alleged.
Police said she appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine. She was arrested and arraigned before on-call District Judge David Engman. She was remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Oct. 20 before District Judge Rich Luther.
