The 8th Annual Marilla Trail Race was held on Saturday, October 9th in Bradford.
Over 100 people attended, coming from New Hampshire, Rochester, New York City and Pittsburgh. There was a four-mile hike, seven mile race and 14 mile race to choose from.
The 14 mile trail race winner was a familiar face for Bradford, as local Alec Peinkfer came in first overall and first for males aged 20-29, with a time of 1:47:38. Kyle Viola, also of Bradford, came in second for males 20-29 and fifth overall. Andrew Wilmoth of Warren, came in third overall and first for the males aged 40-49 bracket with a time of 1:55:23. Cleofe Poloyapoy from Kane came in sixth with a time of 2:06:15 and finished second in the females 20-29 age range. Josh Curcio from Bradford finished seventh overall with a time of 2:09:44.
In the seven mile trail winner was Ryan Geer from Kane, who came in first overall and first for males 40-49, with a time of 53:37. Devan Cavanaugh from Coudersport finished third overall and first for males 20-29 with a time of 56:59. Brianna Meyer from St. Marys came in ninth overall and first for females 30-39, running the course in 1:08:36. Scott Lilly came in 10th and first for males 50-59 with a time of 1:09:43.
The Tuna Valley Trail Association maintains over 40 miles of local public trails and the race proceeds go to the TVTA. Local and national sponsors donated to the volunteer organization.
