DUKE CENTER (EC) — The Otto Township Cemetery Association is looking for persons to assume committee positions for 2022-2023.
Anyone interested should contact Sharon Schwab at (814) 558-4973 or in person next Thursday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon at the township office in Duke Center. Schwab will also be available during those hours to field any questions, concerns, or suggestions concerning cemetery issues.
The association agreed to a price of $825.00 for two signs (Rixford and Duke Center) to be made and installed by Cousins Design. Cousins will have the signs finished and placed later this fall.
Association member David Silvis will meet with Eldred’s Denny Frame to determine a more accessible entrance into the Duke Center cemetery. Rich Amidon, who contracts the grave digging for the association, has volunteered his backhoe services for this project.
It was agreed that a liability insurance policy is necessary and one will be purchased, ensuring any and all paid workers and volunteers are covered at both properties.
The last of the year’s four meetings will be held on Oct.21, at 5 p.m., at the Duke Center Church on Oil Valley Road. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
