The Bradford Township Board of Supervisors approved a variety of motions Monday evening.
Supervisors Jim Erwin and Mark Cline approved a resolution to accept the proposed contract agreement between them and the Bradford Township Police Department as the new contract with an effective date of Jan. 1, 2022, while Supervisor Steve Mascho abstained from the vote, stating he was not prepared to render a vote, until an executive work session could be held to review the contract in greater depth.
Mascho, who spoke to an Era reporter after the meeting, stated he took issue with the way the matter for the new police contract was handled, as he was “only given one day to review the contract in its entirety before today’s meeting.”
Mascho also declined to vote to approve the $97,920 invoice from the general fund billing for the purchase of the new 2021 Ford F-600 Regular Cab DRW 4×4.
Cline read the August report for the Bradford Township Police department, stating officers handled 166 complaints, investigated six motor vehicle accidents and nine criminal complaints. He also stated that the police department was receiving a “large amount” of calls pertaining to telephone scams. He warned residents, “not to give out personal or financial information over the telephone and report any scam attempts to the police department.”
An East Warren Road resident asked the supervisors if they were aware of a letter which was sent to residents pertaining to a special meeting that will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the bridge site to discuss impending details for the East Warren Road Bridge Project. Erwin responded, yes they were aware of the meeting and will be in attendance.
Erwin said the plan is to show any design plans that are complete at the time of that meeting and address any concerns the residents have before the project begins in 2022.
A township resident then addressed Bradford Township Fire Chief Dan Burkhouse and township Police Chief Robb Shipman to thank them for their service and “the beautiful” First Responders’ Memorial Service held at the Fall Music & Art Festival on Sept. 11.
Burkhouse used the moment to remind township residents that with fall approaching, “it is time to maintain chimneys, fireplaces and smoke detectors.”
In other business, the supervisors unanimously approved:
— the advertisement to accept sealed bids for 2,000 tons of AS-1 anti-skid for the 2022-2023 season. The sealed bids received will be opened and reviewed at the October meeting.
— authorizing payment to Blair Technology Solutions LLC of $6,351.45 for the added cost of additional equipment, accessories and extra installation hours for the new security system installed at the township building, road and garbage departments.
