Statewide, the covid vaccination rate may be above 60%, but that is not the case in the counties in The Era’s coverage area.
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), as of Thursday, Sept. 2, Pennsylvania ranks fifth among all 50 states for total doses administered.

The state department of health released information Friday, sharing “Vaccine providers have administered 12,239,564 total vaccine doses as of Friday, Sept. 3.
5,992,224 people are fully vaccinated; with 17,624 vaccinations administered since yesterday and a seven-day moving average of more than 17,800 people per day receiving vaccinations.”
Reports from the Pennsylvania Department of Health Friday showed that McKean, Elk, Cameron and Potter counties are all below the 60% mark.
Cameron County has 56.9% of its residents vaccinated, and of those, 51.3% are fully covered and 5.6% are partially covered. McKean County shows 46.8% vaccinated, 38.7% fully covered and 8.1% partially covered.
Elk County has 57.5% of its residents vaccinated, 52.9% fully covered and 4.6% partially covered, and Potter County totals are at 36.2% vaccinated, 31.4% fully covered and 4.8% partially covered.
Statewide, as of 12 a.m. Friday, there were 3,438 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the total for Pennsylvania to 1,311,722.
Statewide percent positivity for the week of Aug 20 – Aug. 26 stood at 7.8%. For McKean County, the percent positivity is 11.6%, with 44 new cases this week, 12 more than were reported in the previous seven days. Elk County has a 13.6% percent positivity, with 51 new cases reported this week. That is 22 more cases than were reported in the previous seven days.
