Floyd C. Fretz Middle School had a second confirmed case of COVID-19 reported Monday. The case follows Friday’s announcement of a positive case.
The school’s text system indicated the case was reported to officials Monday morning. Contact tracing was completed and those who were close to the student were made aware of quarantine procedures.
According to the text, two students who were fully vaccinated and symptom free were able to remain in school.
This makes four cases of COVID-19 in Bradford Schools in the first 6 days of school. George G. Blaisdell Elementary and School Street each had a confirmed case of COVID-19 last week, and Fretz had one reported Friday as well. To date, Bradford Area High School has not had a reported case of coronavirus since the 2021-22 school year began.
Kane Area School District reported two cases of COVID-19 Friday as well, one in the elementary school and one at the high school level.
Currently, McKean County has reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 over the past week, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The county had 10 new cases on Aug. 26, four on Aug. 28 and three on Aug. 29.
