International Overdose Awareness Day is observed every Aug. 31.
It is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdoses.
Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services will be offering free Narcan on that day to anyone interested. Narcan is used to offset the overdose properties of opioids. The signs of overdose can include no response to stimuli, shallow or stopped breathing, unable to be woken up, usual snoring or gurgling sounds and blue or gray lips or fingertips.
Anyone interested in obtaining Narcan should visit any one of the following offices between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Aug. 31: Marilyn Horne Hall Suite 600, Bradford; 34 East 4th Street, Emporium; 1305 Bucktail Trail, St. Marys.
