SMETHPORT — The McKean County commissioners approved a business agreement Tuesday with Zito Media for equipment and commercial hosted PBX phone extensions for the McKean County 911 Center.
The cost of the contract is $300 for equipment and monthly recurring costs of $123.45 per month for 48 months.
The 911 center county has three direct dial lines for the county offices located in that building. They purchased new phones and are transferring those lines to Zito Media, the provider of phone service for the other county offices.
Also gaining the nod was the five-year program management agreement with the Emergency Food Assistance Program with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture from October 2021 to September 2026 with Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania as lead agency. Pamela Burlingame, McKean County chief clerk, will be program manager.
Two applications for county aid were approved. Keating Township plans to use its $8,911 to purchase pipe and aggregate. In Port Allegany Borough, the allocation of $4,196 will encumbered for future projects.
Commissioners also granted tax exempt status for four properties.
One is for the YWCA of Bradford for its property at 198 South Avenue with request based on it is owned by non-profit organization providing charitable services and programs. The assessed value is $36,000.
The second is for Eldred Borough for borough-owned property at Route 446, Eldred, since it is owned by a municipal government. The assessed value is $10,920.
Two properties in Kane were OKd because both are owned by the borough. The first located at 500 Biddle St., with an assessed valuation of $26,340. The other one, at 125 Yarnell St., has an assessed valuation of $58,800.
Also, approved were two repository sales. One was a vacant .02 acres on Bates Road in Foster Township; the other is one on Chase Street in Kane.
Commissioner Carol Duffy recognized National Senior Citizens Day, Aug. 21, calling attention to the lifetime contributions these people have made to our communities. “It’s part of the reason we have the things we have today,” she said. Duffy encouraged everyone to take time to recognize the contributions and help a senior citizen.
In personnel matters, commissioners appointed Burlingame as interim 504 compliance officer. Pursuant to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and its implementing regulations, no otherwise qualified individual with a disability shall be excluded from participation in, be denied benefits or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal assistance.
Commission Chairman Thomas Kreiner reported one new employee has joined the county government. She is Danielle Miller, CYS Case Aide I.
